About the FUN Football League

How FUN Began...FUN Football began in 1958 as an outgrowth of the Bellaire Recreational Department, with teams organized by elementary schools. The purpose then, as now, is to provide a wholesome recreational activity with high educational value for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12. The program strives to teach teamwork, good sportmanship and build self-confidence. This is accomplished with the help of the volutneers, who not only coach, but teach respect for authority, rules and place high emphasis on education. The program also teaches the importance of planning and the joy of seeing those plans fulfilled.

The football, drill team, cheer coaches and trainers, are reviewed as to experience and moral character.
FUN Football is organized on a booster club system, consisting of a franchised geographical area according to elementary boundaries. FUN is operated by a Board of Directors. Each franchised booster club within FUN is controlled by its own Board of Directors. These booster clubs are completely autonomous organizations that perform many vital functions. They recruit players, enlist coaches, procure practice equipment and secure a practice site.

We believe in SAFETY first. A high emphasis is placed on proper stunting techniques for our cheer squads. The football players must be fitted properly in quality equipment. As a result, rigid standards have been set on playing equiment used by participants in the FUN Football League. Mouthpieces are mandatory. We also require quality headgear, face masks, shoulder/hip pads and thick knee and thigh pads. To ensure this safety, the coaches are required to attend special instructional clinics provided by FUN Football.

Income to operate FUN Football is derived from franchise fees, concession sales, donations, sponsorship and various fundraisers; including gate donations. This income is expended for game officials, stadium repair and upkeep, field maintenance, concession purchases & upkeep, and trophies for participants.
